Fritz’s Polka Band’s recording meets criteria for first round of Grammy Awards
VERONA — Fritz’s Polka Band (FPB) from Verona, is pleased to announce that “The Hands Of Time” (released Oct. 1, 2021) has met the criteria required for the first round of the Grammy Awards.
“The Hands Of Time” is one of just 40 albums in the “Best Regional Roots Music Album” category. The “Hands Of Time” (single that features Joe Bonamassa and Deen Castronovo) is one of 283 singles in the “Best American Roots Performance” category.
Lastly, “Brothers” (single that features Deen Castronovo & Derek Sherinian) is one of 333 entries in “Best American Roots Song” category. Voting, which ran through Oct. 23, was only open to members of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.
“The guys in Fritz’s Polka Band are thrilled that our recording and a couple of the tunes are under consideration for the Grammy Awards,” said Fritz Scherz, band leader of Fritz’s Polka Band. “As I said when this album was released, it’s a very personal album, as my son, Freddy is a special guest on it. The song, ‘The Hands Of Time’ was started by my Dad before he passed away. Joe and Deen did a tremendous job as special guests on it! ‘Brothers’ is a song I wrote for my lifelong friends, Rick Szczyt and Ron Walker, so having that be the other tune under consideration is quite nice. Deen and Derek did a fabulous job as special guests on that tune.”
